Hello everyone! Welcome to another article about one of my favorite arcs in Jujutsu Kaisen anime : The Shibuya incident. It particularly impressed me with its incredible battles and gripping story. This arc is clearly one of my favorite anime arcs in any series. But also for many fans. But why? Let's take a closer look!
The Shibuya incident is one of Jujutsu Kaisen's most intense and memorable arcs, marking a crucial turning point in plot and character development. Filled with epic battles, heroic sacrifices and shocking revelations, this arc leaves an indelible mark on readers and viewers alike. Let's immerse ourselves in the cataclysmic events that shook Shibuya and forever changed the course of history in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.
Synopsis.
The Shibuya tragedy begins on Halloween, October 31, when the curses and their allies orchestrate a massive attack on Tokyo's Shibuya district. Their aim is to trap Satoru Gojo, the most powerful exorcist of his generation, to weaken the exorcists' forces and advance their own sinister plans. Civilians are used as human shields, creating a chaotic and desperate situation.
Two fronts.
The Exorcists
The main protagonists of this arc are the exorcists of Tokyo Technical High School, including Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki and their mentors. They are joined by other exorcists from various institutions to confront the growing threat.
The Curses and their allies
Antagonists include fearsome curses like Mahito, Jogo, Hanami, and Dagon, as well as humans like Suguru Geto, who pursue their own agendas. Their main objective is to free Ryomen Sukuna and create a world dominated by the curses. That's why they need to get rid of Satoru Gojo.
Course of events
The attack on Shibuya begins with the creation of a barrier preventing civilians and exorcists from escaping. Gojo Satoru, lured into a trap, finds himself confronted by an army of curses and human transfigurations. Despite his immense power, Gojo is finally sealed in the Prison Realm, a magical artifact designed to capture him by Suguru Geto, his old friend who is manipulated by a mysterious brain.
With Gojo out of the battle, the sorcerers must face the curses without their greatest asset. The ensuing battles are of unprecedented intensity, with each wizard having to draw on his reserves of strength and courage to survive. Following Gojo's sealing, the arc takes a completely different turn, surprising us readers, who are worried about what will happen next.
Key Battles
Yuji Itadori vs. Mahito
The confrontation between Yuji and Mahito is one of the most intense in the arc. Their rivalry, which began much earlier in the series, reaches its climax in Shibuya. Yuji, motivated by revenge for the innocent lives taken by Mahito, engages in a fierce battle where he must overcome his own limits to defeat the manipulative curse.
Megumi Fushiguro vs. Toji Fushiguro
Megumi comes face to face with Toji, her resurrected, enemy-controlled father. The battle is both physical and emotional, highlighting Megumi's troubled past and her complex bond with her father. The battle pushes Megumi to exploit his full potential as an exorcist. Unfortunately, he will never know that he has fought with his father.
Sukuna Vs Makora
After being freed, Sukuna unleashed himself on Shibuya, eliminating Jogo in the process. He was attracted by Megumi's powerful Ten Shadows technique, which released the most powerful shikigami Makora. A huge battle raged between the two enemies, prompting Sukuna to use his territory extension and burn the Shibuya district to the ground.
Nobara Kugisaki vs. Mahito
Nobara faces Mahito in an intense confrontation in which she uses all her cunning and determination to inflict significant damage on the curse. Her sacrifice and courage demonstrate her growth as an exorcist, but she suffers severe injuries that kill her instantly in front of Itadori.
Consequences and repercussions
The Shibuya Drama leaves deep scars on the characters and the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. The capture of Gojo Satoru creates a huge void in the defense against the curses. The surviving exorcists are forced to reorganize and strengthen to face the growing threat.
The destruction of Shibuya, the many casualties and the sacrifices of the exorcists mark a point of no return. The main characters, especially Yuji, must now bear the brunt of the consequences of this event and continue to fight the forces of evil with renewed determination.
Conclusion
The Shibuya incident is a pivotal arc in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, illustrating the brutality and complexity of the war against the curses. Through breathtaking combat and moments of poignant sacrifice, this arc develops characters and plot significantly, setting the stage for future events. Readers and viewers remain captivated by the emotional richness and depth of this arc, which continues to resonate long after the fighting has ended.
